Mantrailing Training

We teach you the basics of Mantrailing, ensuring you have a strong understanding of this amazing sport of Mantrailing, which is becoming a very widespread sport in the UK and the benefits it has for your dog.

Mantrailing is teaching your dog to find a person. We teach the dog to follow the scent of a hidden person, using his nose to locate them. Mantrailing utilises the dog’s natural ability to sniff out the individual scent from a person. Dogs have an amazing ability to know which skin cells were left first, so that they can follow the direction of travel of the hidden person.

Mantrailing is the very basics of what search and rescue dogs do. Within the first session with us your dog can be finding a person who is hidden close by. Dogs can find people in all different terrains, and in all different weather conditions. So, no matter what the weather our courses go ahead! (With exception of severe weather warnings of course) This is a great fun game for dogs who have energy to burn!

All our Mantrailing courses are taught with positive only training. As with every new sport you introduce your dog to, there is a chance they don’t take to it. However, we tend to find that a high percentage of the dogs who come to us for this fun learning experience, do grasp the basics, and more importantly enjoy it.

We also find that most dogs enjoy a day out with mum/dad getting loads of treats. So, we can’t promise your dog will be a natural at this but, we always try to make it fun for dogs and humans. As with all our training, if we feel that this activity is not in your dog’s best interest, or they are at all distressed/stressed we will stop the training at our discretion immediately. The trainer’s decision is final.
