K9 Laser Guidance

The laser has many applications for directed K-9 searches and is used successfully by many specialised units. It requires training and time to get a dog to do a directed search with a laser. If done properly, the dog will follow the precise point of the laser and “check” where directed to search. The laser has a much further range than a finger. The handler is 100m down a hallway and accurately directs the dog in the dog with a laser pointer to a certain room or door.

If trained correctly the dog will not see the laser as a toy.

• Law enforcement/Military Application
  Using the laser, the handler does not leave a position of cover and expose himself or herself or having to speak in a loud voice to the dog. In high threat situations it is a fantastic tool. Used in conjunction with other devices, it can make the K9 unit very covert. 
• Private Section Handlers
  If you’re a handler in the private section, doing Explosives/drug etc searches, you can direct the dog to a given area and start the search from a safe distance, keeping the handler out of the search area. Ensuring a safe systematic search.
  The dog can be directed onto a surface that might not be suitable for a handler to use, but is safe for the dog (Search and Rescue/Disaster) 
• Pet Owners
  Can be used for the pet owner, to take their training to the next level. Maybe also used with hearing impaired dogs.
