Obedience Training Sessions
General dog training and obedience, from loose lead walking to manners around other dog’s or people. This is a 1-2-1 class and can adapted to you and your dog’s needs. Your trainer will be Simon.
Loose lead walking
Does your dog walk you? We know how stressful being dragged along by your dog can be. Or even having a dog that walks nicely most of the time but then gets over excited and darts away dragging you with him.
We can help, we can show you how to take the stress out of walking your dog and make walking your dog a more pleasurable experience.
We will cover
- Why do dogs pull?
- Techniques specific to your dog to stop pulling.
- Safety.
There are no quick fixes in dog training, but you will see a change in your dog during this workshop, then it’s down to you to take the information away and put it into practice. We may advise you on collars leads, please bring your normal equipment with you.
Reset Training Course
Are you struggling with your dog? Terrible recall, no manners around humans or other dogs!
Is your dog easily distracted, more interested in what’s going on over there, than what you are asking him to do!
Then this method is for you, we go right back to the basics, the fundamentals!
We start by building a stronger bond, using engagement and focus. We then imprint the behaviours you want to see in your dog. This course sets a positive and stable foundation for a lifetime of future training.
One of the methods we use is Marker training:
Marker training is a simple way of dog training that communicates with the dog what behaviour is correct and desired by the handler. This is where we use a clicker or marker word to encourage the behaviours we want to see.
This is a science-based teaching method that simplifies communicating with the dog with positive reinforcement.
We teach the dog through his or her own thinking and actions instead of luring, correcting, or physically manipulating the dog into the correct position or behaviour.
It allows the learning of behaviours’ to be established quickly with food reward.
When the dog makes the choice to offer the behaviour the dog is rewarded. The more you reward the desired behaviour, the more the dog will offer that behaviour again for their reward.
This course is run over 4 weeks
Week 1, Introduce marker training (Clicker/verbal) and how to get engagement/focus
Week 2/3 Start to shape behaviours, engagement and focus
Week 4 put it all together
We will supply a clicker if required.
Minimum of 2 dogs are required to run this course!
All our workshops can be found on our online booking system.
Drop off Training
The fast and convenient way to train your dog!
What is Drop Off Dog Training? This program is designed for convenience and speed!
When you love your dog, but you need the behaviours to stop and don’t even know where to start, let alone have time for it……
This program is also ideal for new puppy or new dogs in your life too!
Want to just drop off your dog for a couple of hours a week and let us do all the hard work while you run errands and deal with life? We are flexible in our training approach if you want to book 4 days back-to-back that’s fine with us. Dog training: is what we excel in!
How It Works:
Once you and the trainer agree on the dog’s goals, we will begin training in real life problem areas, at a time suited to all parties. Drop off your dog for 2 hours each week for 3 weeks in a row. We will teach your dog all the obedience commands and work correcting any behaviours you feel need to be changed. We will do this while you go run errands, grab a bite to eat, or just take some alone time and relax.
After 1 1/2 hours is up, come back and we will show you what your dog learned. When it’s time to go home, you can enjoy your tired, calm, relaxed, and trained dog. Plus, we can give you any homework ideas and tips On the 4th week, you will join us for the last hour session (Transfer session) so we can teach you the commands and hand signal your dog learned and how to incorporate them into your daily life to get the solutions you need. This program will include 1 follow up session to make sure that the new behaviours are working great for you.

The 5 Freedoms for Dogs
This is the standard to which we all aspire to provide for our dogs and dogs training with us.
1. FREEDOM FROM HUNGER AND THIRST
2. FREEDOM FROM PAIN, INJURY AND DISEASE
3. FREEDOM FROM DISCOMFORT (temperature, hard bedding etc)
4. FREEDOM FROM FEAR AND DISTRESS
5. FREEDOM TO EXPRESS NORMAL BEHAVIOUR
The 5 Freedoms make us think about all the things that can affect how animals feel. The 5 freedoms remind us every day that we are caring for living breathing creatures. Use the 5 freedoms to assess the quality of life for your own pet. Is he well fed and healthy? Most of these are self-explanatory, but what about number 5? What we mean is please let them sniff and allow them to be a dog!
We at K9 Manhunt & ScentWork Scotland do not take any responsibility for you or your dog whilst doing a workshop/training with us.
We politely ask that you keep your dog always supervised and pick up any mess he has made and dispose of it responsibly.
